Returns and Refunds Policy

At Taiga Farm & Seed, we specialize in living, perishable products. That means once they leave our farm, we can’t guarantee how they’re handled—and we cannot accept them back. Please review the policies below carefully before placing your order.


All Sales Are Final

Seeds, garlic bulbs, plant starts, and elderberry canes are living organisms and perishable by nature. Once shipped, we are no longer able to verify storage or handling conditions. For this reason:

  • All sales of seeds, plant starts, garlic bulbs, and canes are final.

  • Returned seeds will be destroyed or donated—we do not resell them under any circumstances.

  • We cannot accept returns for garlic, live plants, or canes.

Please double-check your order before completing your purchase.


Order Cancellations

Orders are prepared in the order they are received. Once payment is processed, your order enters the fulfillment queue. Refund eligibility depends on where your order is in that process:

  • Not yet fulfilled: Full refund minus non-refundable credit card processing fees (3% + $0.30).

  • In fulfillment: Refund minus credit card fees and a 20% restocking fee.

  • Fulfilled but not shipped: Refund minus credit card fees and a 30% restocking fee.

  • Already shipped: Refunds are not available. See below for replacement of incorrect or damaged items.

These fees help cover labor and time already spent on your order. Thank you for understanding that our small team begins packing seeds as soon as orders arrive.


Inspect Your Order

Please inspect your package upon arrival and contact us within 7 days of the USPS delivery date if anything is missing, damaged, or incorrect. We’ll gladly correct any errors we’ve made—quickly and at no cost to you.

If you received the wrong item, we’ll either send a replacement or issue a full refund (your choice)—after the incorrect item is returned.

Incorrectly sent seed collections must be returned unopened and sealed, with all seed packets intact. Refunds or replacements will not be processed until the return is received and verified.


Return Guidelines for Incorrect Items

If you are returning an incorrect seed collection:

  1. Contact us at orders@taigafarmandseed.com within 14 days of the ship date to request an RMA# (Return Merchandise Authorization).

  2. Include your order number, name, mailing address, a description of the issue, and clear photos of the seed collection and packaging (all six sides of the box).

  3. Ship the item with tracking and insurance. We are not responsible for returns lost in transit.

  4. Refunds will be processed within 7–15 business days, depending on seasonal workload and return transit time.

Please note:

  • We cannot accept returned items if the seed collection seal has been broken or individual seed packets have been opened.

  • Unauthorized returns will be refused and returned at the customer’s expense.

  • Original and return shipping costs are non-refundable.

  • Refunds will be credited to your original payment method (allow 3–7 business days after processing, depending on your bank).

International Orders (Canada Only)

We currently ship seeds to Canada but do not provide phytosanitary certificates. If your order is stopped, detained, or destroyed by Canadian customs, we cannot offer a refund or replacement. Even if seeds are returned to us, they are no longer fit for sale.


Performance Guarantee – Seeds Only

We work hard to provide clear varietal descriptions and planting tips. However, actual performance can vary based on soil, climate, location, pest pressure, and cultivation practices.

If a seed packet doesn’t perform as expected, we’ll either:

  • Send a replacement packet (if available), or

  • Refund the purchase price of that individual seed packet, up to $4.00.

We do not replace or refund entire seed collections. Shipping fees are non-refundable. Claims must be submitted within:

  • 2 weeks of discovering the issue, and

  • 1 year from the purchase date.

We cannot verify how seeds were handled or stored after leaving our farm, and viability may be impacted by factors outside our control.


Performance Disclaimer – Canes, Seedlings, and Bulbs

We guarantee that all elderberry canes, garlic bulbs, and plant starts leave our farm healthy, viable, and true to type. Once planted, however, we cannot guarantee how they will establish, overwinter, or produce.

Success depends on many factors we can’t control, including:

  • Timing and method of planting

  • Soil conditions, pests, disease pressure

  • Watering and fertility practices

  • Climate variability and weather extremes

  • Overall site suitability

We also recognize that the experience level of the grower can significantly impact results. If you’re new to planting garlic, perennials, or elderberries, we encourage you to review our planting tips before ordering.

We do not issue refunds or replacements for performance issues with live plant material unless there's clear evidence of damage or defect at the time of shipping.


Limitation of Remedy

Our liability is strictly limited to the purchase price of the seed packet or product in question. We are not responsible for crop failure, lost income, or any incidental damages.

As is standard in the seed trade, this limitation allows us to keep prices reasonable while protecting our farm from unpredictable variables beyond our control.
