Pollinator Flower Seed Collection
This collection is primarily perennials and includes different flower sizes, shapes and colors, as well as varying plant heights and growth habits to support a greater number and diversity of pollinators. The flowers are chosen for their abundance of nectar, pollen and natural beauty, plus: low maintenance, generally pest free, drought tolerant, and a good sources of shelter for wildlife.
By planting pollinator flowers, you:
- Increase the plant diversity of your garden
- help create and maintain a healthy micro-ecosystem
- maximize your garden space by tucking flowers in with the vegetables
- increase the yield of your vegetable garden by attracting bees to your flowers
- support natural beneficial insects and reducing the need for pest control
- beautify your space, both indoors and out (we love a jelly jar full of flowers!).
You may have heard that bees are disappearing and bats are dying. These and other animal pollinators face many challenges in the modern world. Habitat loss, disease, parasites, and environmental contaminants have all contributed to the decline of many species of pollinators. Pollinators that can’t find the right quantity or quality of food (nectar and pollen from blooming plants within flight range) don’t survive. Right now, there simply aren’t enough pollinator friendly plantings to support pollinators. Your flowers will be helping these important pollinators!
