Seed Starting Class
This is a hands-on, adult class at our sister farm, The Boreal Farm, where we will:
- Review pros and cons of different methods of seed starting
- Understand seed cold stratification
- Look at growing set-ups, heat mats and lighting
- Choose potting soil and ideal soil moisture
- Learn the role of soil temperature and seed depth in germination
- Understand seed packet information
- Troubleshoot common seedling issues
- Plant seeds appropriate for this time of season: alliums, celery and several herbs
Classes are kept small to 6 participants for highly individualized attention.
The best part?
You will take home a 25 cell tray of seeds that you planted during class!
Dress warmly with generous movement and comfortable shoes, as we will be standing during most, if not all, of the class.
Please note: bathroom facilities are not available due to the cool temps
